About Changing Lives Today

In 2004, Changing Lives Today began as a sub-contracting agency, working with other organizations. In 2009, Changing Lives Today Inc. became its own independent provider under the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. Our core values center on the name of our company through the development of good and effective communication skills. This will contribute to your loved one successfully adapting and becoming independent in every aspect of daily living.

People First

At Changing Lives Today, we have adopted a People First Language (PFL) approach which represents more respectful, accurate ways of communicating.

Our Mission

It’s our mission to break the stigma associated with mental and physical disabilities and to bring an increased awareness that all people have unique abilities, skills, interests and needs.

Our Team

Our staff is comprised of professionals with degrees in sociology, psychology and nursing and certifications in paraprofessionals such as nursing assistants.

Our Community Homes

The ultimate goal for us to assist people with integrating into the community around them, to participate in community affairs as anyone would in their own community. Our community living arrangement (CLA) homes are family home models and are State licensed by the Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility Regulations.

We offer 24/7 support and mentorship in our Community Residential Homes, currently located in the Cobb/Douglas county area. The homes are nicely decorated and furnished to the liking of each individual. We contract we multiple day programs, which are open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm.

At the Day program, you will find different areas of training based on the individuals’ cognitive, motor and intellectual skills. Some activities will be group based, but still revolve around disabilities.

The “Person Centered” Approach

Results will be documented carefully to see what progress each person is making.  Due to careful documentation, strengths and weaknesses are easily identified. Our individuals thrive when we are following. “The Person Centered Concept”. It is our belief that when we follow the person centered values, it makes learning and adjusting more comfortable and familiar to each individual served.

At the same time, we encourage embracing differences with other individuals who have different moral values and beliefs. Our agency’s greatest assets are the individuals we serve, they are most important and make our jobs possible. It is the parents, family members, advocates, and friends who support and help us to do a better job to support the individuals we serve.

It is the management that directs the over-all operation of the program in order to serve individuals and provide employment for all. It is the employees who work to meet the needs of the individuals so that they can participate in making choices and live a full, enriched life. It is the community, who supports and provides the opportunity for us to facilitate a meaningful life in the community for everyone. This has to be a team effort on everyone’s behalf in order to make Changing Lives Today successful.

Our staff is entrusted with the responsibility to the individual, themselves, co-workers, and to Changing Lives Today Inc. We are here to do the best job possible to ensure success to everyone involved. Our staff is comprised of professionals with degrees in sociology, psychology and nursing and certifications in paraprofessionals such as nursing assistants. All of which have years of experience in their area of expertise.
